Factory Orders

manufactured goods

The new orders for manufactured goods are leading the economy up. For five consecutive months, there have been increases topping off with a September rise of 1.1% or $475 billion. The U.S. Census Bureau reports these numbers every month. Shipments of goods were also up five consecutive months increasing $1.6 billion.

The reopening in the U.S. has resulted in a strong recovery. As cases of covid rise, the economy could expect a slowdown in the recovery. A spending package, likely out after the election, will help but states, if they choose to shut down again, will severally diminish the impact of any new stimulus bill.
