We at KPP Financial stress value investing by looking for those companies that are undervalued based on their fundamentals. Growth investing is based on the growth of sales and at times work very well. Over long periods Value trumps Growth but there are periods Growth takes the lead.
There is another kind of investing called Momentum. This is a strategy that tries to capitalize on the continuance of a current trend either of the market itself, a particular sector, or even a stock. You can take advantage of the movement either to the up side or downside. To the upside you just buy and ride the wave and on the downside you short sell a security.
In Momentum investing the difficulty is knowing when to jump in and jump out. Timing the market has always been extremely difficult.
